WAVELAND, Mississippi - The 2010 winner of America's Got Talent, Michael Grimm, returned to his home in Waveland, Mississippi with a check for $1 million, a recording contract to headline at Caesar's Palace in Las Vegas, and about two dozen brand new hats that he purchased at Hattie's Hat Haven in Hacienda Heights, California.
Michael had made an appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show in which he proposed to Lucy, his girlfriend of three years.
After sitting down at his grandparents trailer and having his favorite Southern dish, Chicken and Dumplings, fried okra, and Stonewall Jackson cornbread he drove them both over to Delta Derek's Land of Trailer Houses and had them pick out a brand new trailer.
His grandmother picked out the Deluxe 17 Southern Belle which includes three bedrooms, a spacious kitchen, a family room, two bathrooms, and even an extra room where grandpappy Grimm can keep his collection of 63 commemorative Civil War cannonballs.
Afterwards Michael took them all to eat at the local Dairy Queen, where they all had a DQ Beltbuster Combo. It was after they finished eating and started to lick on their three scoop ice cream cones that Michael broke the news to them.
He smiled and said that he had appeared on the Ellen DeGeneres Show which will air in two days in Waveland and that he had proposed to his girlfriend of three years Lucy Jo Wickenbacker.
Right away granny asked, "You mean little Lucy Jo Wickenbacker who used to chase you around our old trailer house with her homemade machete?"
"Ah no granny. That was Bertie Leigh Puffenbixx." Michael answered.
"Oh. Then little Lucy Jo who used to always ask you if you wanted to peek underneath her dress?"
"No granny. That was actually Leslie Brenda Mickmeister and Tammy Sue LaFellini."
"Well dadgummit grandson, then do tell me which one was this Lucy Jo Wackygrabber girl?"
Michael told his grandmother that Lucy Jo Wickenbacker was the sweet little girl who always wore blue gingham clothes due to the fact that her mama Elvira Eileen worked at the Colonel Crandall V. Diddybaker Dixieland Blue Gingham Factory over in Bay St. Louis just up the road from Waveland.
In a related story. Jackie Evancho who placed second on America's Got Talent said that she received a call from Kanye West offering to sing a duet with her. Little Jackie reportedly replied, "Are you kidding me bro. The answer is no! And not just no but heck no!"
