It was a tearful goodbye for Big Brother

There were screams of delight in the Big Brother studio last night when the realisation slowly dawned on fans that the Big Brother dynasty had finally come to an end.

Former air steward Brian Dowling won Ultimate Big Brother, which featured 'top' housemates from the past 10 years.

Dowling, who first won in 2001, yelled "Oh my God!" when he won the Channel 4 show's final vote. Wise words, indeed.

Later, he remarked "Thank you."

Nikki Grahame, the one who acts like a fucking baby, came second, while the winner of Celebrity Big Brother 2006, slapper Chantelle Houghton, took third place. She's the dim bitch that married Preston out of the Ordinary Boys, then divorced him.

The long-running reality game show has been a summer staple on C4 since 2000.

Speaking about the impact of the show, Dowling told host Davina McCall: "It's one of the best things I could have ever done. It allowed me to be myself and allowed other people to accept you for who you are. It's also the biggest pile of shit imaginable. Sticking groups of egotistical nobodies in a room together for several weeks, and watching the grim outcomes, is a poor excuse for entertainment, but it's what the masses seem to want."

He went on: "The show is also about hope, in the sense that it gives people the opportunity to make their life that little bit better, although quite how I'd quantify that is another matter. I was told to say it by The Sun newspaper" he said.

"I owe everything to the show, everything, and people have voted again. You say thank you, but sometimes thank you is never enough. I don't know what would be enough - £500?"

Ms Grahame, who entered the house in 2006 dressed as a Playboy bunny, said Mr Dowling was "the most deserving winner" but taking part in the final 4 Big Brother had "meant the absolute world" to her. As opposed to the 'non-absolute' world. Then she cried like a baby.
