Aston Merrygold has reportedly slammed Girls Aloud members Cheryl Cole, Nicola Roberts, Sarah Harding and Kimberley Walsh for not supporting band mate Nadine Coyle.
In an article in this week's MusicWeek magazine, Merrygold said that Coyle deserved respect by the industry and her band mates. He said "I think the treatment of Nadine Coyle by the press is horrible. Every time she is mentioned, it's because she lives in LA and is holding up the Girls Aloud reunion or has been dropped by her record label. They should just leave her alone instead of being disrespectful to her. She is a very talented woman. I think it would help loads if Girls Aloud stuck up for her and not just let her take the blame."
Merrygold also claims recent press reports around his career with JLS have put pressure on the group but they will come out of it stronger. "Everytime we read a rumour about me leaving the group and going solo, it puts a negative pressure on the group. We have had arguments about it but we do come out of it stronger. We see every bad article and every bad review as a personal challenge to change that persons view of us."
Carrying on talking about groups, he stuck up for Sugababe member Heidi Range, saying she is a beautiful, talented woman. "I love Heidi. Don't get me wrong, I love Jade, who I have known for years, and Amelle but I think the flak Heidi has taken for the past years is horrible. SHe has coped so well under the pressure when she could have blown up. She is absolutely gorgeous, Dave is a very lucky man. And her voice, I love her voice. She has a great tone."
He also mentioned The Saturdays, saying he would love to record a collaboration with the group. "Because of Marvin's relationship with Rochelle, we have all become really close. Vanessa keeps picking on me since they started going out. Calling me all sorts of names. We really do want to do a track together. It will be class."
