Sugababes Amelle Berrabah and Jade Ewen have said their bandmate Heidi Range's marriage to footballer Steven Gerrard is "stronger than ever".

In seperate interviews, both Berrabah and Ewen claimed the couple were very happy and are not splitting up. Berrabah said to OK! Magazine "It just seems they are the latest people the press want to pick on. Heidi is even more infatuated with Stevie than she was when I first joined the group, and Stevie is the same with Heidi. The rumours going around are funny as hell because Heidi doesn't have a sister so how could Stevie sleep with her?" She continued "The stupid story about it affecting the group is not even funny. Even if Heidi was having problems, which she isn't, she is a professional and it wouldn't affect her work."

Berrabah went on to say she got emotional when the couple's children Lily-Ella, 6, and Lexie, 4, called her "Auntie Mel". "I went to stay with Heidi for a week during the World Cup and we were sitting watching England's first match against America and we just laughed for hours. When Stevie scored, Lily looked at me and said "look Auntie Mel, daddy scored" and I got really emotional. Then just as the girls were going to bed they both said "Goodnight Auntie A" and I nearly cried. They are lovely, beautiful girls."

Ewen claimed in a radio interview that she has enjoyed getting to know Steven, who is currently the captain of England and Liverpool FC, through Heidi. "I always had this feeling he was up himself and very arrogant but he is very down to earth. They are one of the strongest couples I know. They spend all day texting or calling each other. Steven rang her the other day, just said I love you, Heidi replied the same and then they just said bye to each other. When they are away from each other, they spend all the time missing each other."

Sugababes are currently working on their eighth studio album, their second since Ewen joined the group.
