HOLLYWOOD - America's Got Talent host Nick "The Swizzle Stick" Cannon remarked that everyone can forget about the flaming pizza twirlers, the sword swallower's, the yodeling hillbilly woman, the dozens of dancing acts, and focus on one little 10-year-old amazing opera singer from Pittsburgh.
Little blonde blue-eyed Jackie Evancho, literally blew the audience and the judges away with her performance of Puccini's "O Mio Babbino Caro," which translated into English is "Who Let The Dogs Out."
After Jackie was introduced and started singing it was simply amazing to believe that such a professionally tuned, mature voice could come from the vocal cords of such a young little girl who was holding a Barbie Doll as she sang.
And there were certainly many media critics as well as viewers who felt that little Jackie was actually lip syncing. But voice experts state that it is just the style that little Jackie Evancho incorporates that gives off the appearance that she is lip syncing.
[EDITOR'S NOTE: I watched the performance and then went back and watched it and I am still not convinced that the performance was not pre-recorded. However, having said that, there is no doubt that the voice is actually her, whether it was recorded the day before or the week before.]
Jackie's family lives in Pittsburgh where her father and mother work for the Pittsburgh Pirates organization. Her father is a hot dog vendor and has perfected the art of yelling out "Hey, youse, get jur hot dawgs here hear?" in three different languages.
And Mama Evancho works as a cotton candy vendor who every game utters the phrase "Hey, youse, does ya want the pink one or the blue one?"
Jackie has two brothers, Bippy and Tippy, as well as one sister, Skippy. She also has a pet duck that she named Drumstick, after her favorite part of the chicken.
It is pretty much a forgone conclusion that little Jackie will win this year's edition of America's Got Talent. And when she does she says that she will take some of the money and send her parents to college so that they can get good jobs and not have to yell the words "Hey, youse" 240 times a game.
SIDENOTE: Susan Boyle heard Jackie sing and she remarked, "My goodness gosh. Da li'l lass is gobsmackingly fantastic she is. She kinda reminds me of meself when I was just a wee lass of 37."
