Reports released yesterday announced that Amanda Holden was leaving the 'Britain's Got Talent' team to pursue other projects, one of which is to become a contestant on Simon Cowell's new reality TV Show 'I'm a Celebrity Get me Strictly Come Dancing Out of Here'.
In startling news this morning, we have learned that the BBC is seeking an injunction to prevent the release of this programme, on the basis that it is too similar to the Strictly Come Dancing format.
Cowell commented that he thought that the legal action was 'ludicrous and bound to end in failure'. He insisted that the format was entirely different to that adopted by the BBC.
'Yes, of course there will be dancing, both ballroom and Latin American, but that's where the similarity ends', he said. 'Our programme will not be in a ballroom setting, but rather set in a tropical jungle and the contestants will be required to dance around various obstacles, including wild animals, whilst chewing bugs and kangaroo testicles. It's revolutionary, there's nothing else like it!'.
Holden was said to be 'devastated' at the news, as are both Katie Price and Alex Reid, who were also in early negotiations to be contestants on the show.
'I'm gutted', said Price, who is currently on honeymoon in Thailand with husband Reid, 'Alex and I have been practising our fandango for weeks!'
