It has been announced today that Susan Boyle, the Scottish singer that shot to fame in 2009 following her audition for 'Britain's Got Talent', is to star in 'Shrek the Musical'
The award-winning Broadway stage show is to make it's London debut at the Theatre Royal in May next year.
The animated film series about a grumpy green ogre, his girl-friend and bunch of side-kicks was extremely successful and the Broadway stage show scooped a Tony award for best-costume.
Michael Ball is currently in negotiations to play the title role and it is understood that Amanda Holden has been approached to play the role of his girl-friend, Princess Fiona, in her 'human', form.
Boyle (49), has today confirmed that she is to play Princess Fiona in 'Ogre' form.
At a Press Conference earlier, SuBo said that she was 'thrilled' to be considered for this challenging role, ahead of other, more established artists.
The Director, Jason Moore, said that he thought Boyle was 'perfect for the role' and 'had her in mind right from the start'
'Just think of the time we'll save in make-up' he said 'I've told Susan not to shave throughout the performances, a bit of green powder on the face and away we go!'
