Justin Bieber and Kim Kardashian have hit the headlines once more with what appeared at first sight to be yet another hoax. However, we can reveal that in fact this time there is truth in the rumour.
Yes, there is a recording. Yes, Kardashian and Bieber are on it. And yes, it involves a Hotel. But it is not what you would expect.
In fact the recording turns out to be a very moving duet of Heartbreak Hotel, the 1956 Rock and Roll song made famous by Elvis Presley. It was recorded secretly because the two stars were very unsure about the project and how it would be received by their fans.
In fact, they had no need to worry. The new recording is in a slower ballad-style, and is closer to John Cale's version of the song than to Elvis's. However it has been given a modern orchestral style, and includes a spoken verse which falls somewhere between a rap and a narration, performed by Bieber.
When rumors of the recording first appeared on the Internet, a few journalists jumped to the wrong conclusion and assumed this was some kind of sordid secret video. In fact nothing could be further from the truth, and fans of the two stars will be pleased to know that, for once, there should be some positive publicity.
An inside source suggests that the track will be available for download shortly, and will also be released on CD. There is some talk of an album of duet covers, but it is very early days and fans will have to wait and see.
