British actor Robert Pattinson has been announced today as the next Spider-man in Sam Raimi's new film "A spider ate my baby". Pattinson, star of the Twilight films and Harry Potter, is said to be ecstatic.
"A spider ate my baby" is due for release in 2011 and will feature a fast burgeoning crew of award-winning actors. Meryl Streep, Bruce Campbell and Bob Hoskins are all due to star in the film, the plot of which is being kept under very tight wraps. The film is set to be a "reboot" of the franchise following initial problems with the director being unable to think up a good story, following the success of the first three films.
Raimi's first Spiderman films had Tobey Maguire starring as Peter Parker himself, with Kenneth Branagh under the mask whenever Spiderman was on-screen. It is unknown whether Branagh himself will reprise his role in the new film.
The film is likely to be another in the series of purposefully-shot 3D films making a strong showing at the cinema at the moment. So look forward to web-in-your-face action coming your way, next year.
