Cornish comedian Jethro has been tipped as the new James Bond following Pierce Brosnan's recent departure as the British secret agent.
Bookmakers claim to have had a large influx of bets on Jethro becoming Bond #6, leaving the other contenders, such as recent Oscar winner Clive Owen, in the shadows.
Jethro, a British comedian from the West Country town of Cornwall, is well known for his character comedy and his individual style of timing and delivery. Jethro's routine consists of character-based stories, and he is notorious for telling impolite and crude jokes.
It is believed that since Bond fans were left disappointment by the last Bond film in 2002, Die Another Day, that producers Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli were looking to create a more traditional Bond film based on Ian Fleming's character. This fabricates the rumours that Wilson and Broccoli are looking to cast a new British actor to hark back to George Lazenby's classic portrayal of the British spy.
When asked about his links to the legendary role Jethro stated; ‘I would love to play James Bond. I would bring back that suave British status to the character, much associated with George Lazenby. Though at this time I can not comment on any potential role as 007.'
Reports claim that Jethro has been spotted outside the Ministry of Intelligence Headquarters in London, which leads many to believe he's perhaps researching into the role, or has already been given 007's Licence To Film.
Since the statement bookmakers have closed all bids on Jethro taking over from Brosnan as James Bond in the 21st Bond film officially titled Casino Royal. Directed by previous Bond director Martin Campbell (1995's GoldenEye). The films title derives from Ian Fleming's first James Bond novel, though it is not known how faithful the film will be to this novel, but it looks as though Bond 21 will be a more traditional Bond film.
A new era, a new Bond and a hark back to the original Bond films looks promising for Jethro, who looks to have all it takes to bring the flagging James Bond franchise back to an All Time High.
