image for New "Simpsons" spin-off
The old Homer Simpson, destined for revamp

When "The Simpsons" is cancelled, which could be 2007 at the earliest, there is a new futuristic spin-off planned for the show, which is hoped to be as successful as possible.

The show is called "The Spacesons" and is based on the original, retaining many old components; A revamped opening sequence, plus many old characters based on the new, etc.

Matt Groening was not avaliable to comment on the spin-off, but we have recieved news that the first season has already been scripted and chronicles the adventures of Evergreen Spaceship v742.0, in the year 9872. Onboard are Barttron, Lisatron, Margetron, Homertron and Maggietron, plus many others with original and inventive names. Look out for Mr. Burnstron and his bootlick, Smitherstron, at the Nuclear Power Spaceship where Homertron works, along with friends Carltron and Lennytron. Barttron and Lisatron will be going to school to see Ms. Hoovertron, Mrs. Krapabbeltron and Principal Seymour Skinnertron, with their friends like Janeytron and Milhousetron.

Springfield has been transformed into a galaxy, with many spaceships floating around, each containing the original characters - now spruced up.

In order to keep the show as close to the old one as possible, the "Treehouse Of Horror" three-segment Halloween show is being replaced with the "Sleeping Cube Of Horror".

A test 10-minute pilot will be shown on Sunday 6 March on FOX, at 8:30, following a new episode of the still-running Simpsons characters.

The show's full-length debut will be in the autumn of the same year of the final episode of "The Simpsons", whenever that will be.

A press release from FOX has praised test-screenings;

"THE SPACETRONS are spiced-up versions of kids and adult's favourite show THE SIMPSONS we say this under our own will."

Sounds great! And, even better, the 10-minute pilot is also repeated on March 13, March 20, March 27, April 3, April 10, April 17, April 24, May 1, May 8 and May 15, all at the same time as the first one. Maybe you should record them all! That would be fantastic! You could see it all 11 times without having to rewind your tape!

There are most probably other encores planned for this brilliant-sounding pilot, and test-screenings of the first three minutes make it out to be jam-packed with action and guest-stars, so don't miss them!

Make CWMIV's day - give this story five thumbs-up (there's no need to register, the thumbs are just down there!)
