A music video by M.I.A. which shows some ginger haired people being rounded up by cops, shot, set on fire and forced to walk across a minefield has been banned by top website You Tube for breaching regulations regarding pornographic/violent content.
Ben Redhead, of Ginger Nuts Against Oppression welcomed the decision to withdraw the video and called for stiff penalties for ginger abusers, saying that for too long, ginger people have been the butt of too many jokes, and subjected to intolerable ridicule simply for being carrot tops.
"Nobody minds the odd joke, or a bit of jocular leg-pulling, but when people start shooting carrot tops in the head, setting them alight, and making them run through a minefield to get blown up, just because - through no fault of their own - they happen to be ginger-mingers, it's not acceptable. I applaud You Tube for having the courage of their convictions and pulling the plug on this abominable so called piece of art."
In order to get a balanced view on this story we stopped a man in the street, purely at random, in Southampton. He said:
"Never heard of M.I.A. meself. What is it? Missing in action, or summink? I got no problem wiv shooting carrot tops, or settin' 'em on fire or blowin' 'em up or whatever. Where do I sign up?"
Which proves that there are two sides to every story.
More as we get it.
