Susan Boyle, the Blackburn balladeer with the voice of an angel had better be right up on her toes and ready to mix it because there's a new kid on the block challenging for her audience.
Lin Yu Chun, the singing shopkeeper from Taiwan is a vertically challenged overweight guy with a basin hair-cut who goes by the name of 'Little Fatty.'
And Little Fatty is already making some serious headway eating into SuBo's audience, starring in Taiwanese talent show Dirt Road To The Airport and winning zillions of You-Tube hits with his plant-withering soprano version of Whitney Houston's tear-jerking (or perhaps chain-yanking) classic 'I Will Always Love You.'
Little Fatty's unique vocal interpretations of popular songs have produced a mixed reaction. Detractors say he sounds like some kind of alien on nitrous oxide who is getting his fingernails pulled out with pliers, while his supporters argue that because he doesn't fit the glamorous image of a big time singer, he should be applauded for his willingness to have a go.
We tried to speak to Susan Boyle about the threat to her popularity posed by Little Fatty but were informed by one of her minders that she'd gone out shopping for a poster of Little Fatty, and a set of darts.
Speculation continues apace that this could develop into the Star Wars story of the year.
More as we get it.
