Coronation Street extra actress Patty Clever has been charged with serious acting in Greater Manchester, police confirmed.
The 96-year-old, who plays the Street's taxi passenger Ihave Nohope, was stopped near her home in Northsoutheast&west in the early hours of Monday.
She was pulled over by officers and asked to read a script and charged with being a proper actor.
A Greater Manchester Police spokesman said she was to appear at Manchester City Magistrates' Court on 14 April.
Ms Clever, who joined the soap opera in 2000, was driving an electric scooter when she was stopped in Passmeover Road just after midnight.
She will appear in court two days before actor Ryan Git, who plays no one real, is due before magistrates accused of being boring offences.
