The Smothers Brothers, who were kicked off CBS in the late sixties for anti-war jokes and skits have decided to call it quits after only 52 years together.
"Dick has busted his balls", grinned Tommy, a Master of Yo. "He's bankrupt and I can't carry him over it. It's taken a long time to get even for Mom always liking him the best."
Dick is indeed bankrupt. His house in Florida and his former wife's house are both up for sale.
Older brother Tommy, 73, is "contemplating a complete cessation of his entertainment work," while straight man Dick is battling "to position himself for his impending retirement from show business" is how the official report went out.
"That's a fancy way of saying that we got too old", stated Tommy.
One of the most popular shows on TV at it's time, the CBS authorities stated they were getting complaints from conservatives all across the US and canceled the show.
"This means that Pat Paulson won't be running in the 2012 race for President", stated Tommy. "That's sad because he got the most ever in 2008, even though he's been dead for many years."
"Now let's see if Mama's favorite can come back down from shit creek without me doing the paddling?"
