image for Adrian Chiles Buys False Beard
It Was Bigger Than That! And More Ginger!

A man who works part time in a local pound shop has said that a man bearing more than a passing resemblance to BBC presenter Adrian Chiles was seen entering a theatrical costumier's shop and buying a big false ginger beard.

"It was a massive furry ginger beard," the man who works part time in the pound shop told me. "It'd take years to grow a big hairy ginger beard like that. And I'm pretty sure the bloke who bought it was Adrian Chiles off The One Show and Match Of The Day 2."

By my own admission, I was somewhat skeptical about these allegations, until that is, I remembered that Adrian Chiles refused BBC commands to shave off his own slightly ginger and frankly not very impressive beard.

It seems that Adrian Chiles is upset by BBC plans to switch celebrity appearances on The One Show to Friday evenings and to use a different presenter on Fridays for the celeb special.

Our showbiz analyst confirmed to me that it would be quite feasible for Adrian Chiles to wear a big false ginger beard on The One Show as a mark of protest. But he also stated that it would be highly unlikely, adding that the man who the man who works part time in the pound shop saw emerging from the theatrical costumier's shop, probably wasn't Adrian Chiles anyway.

Christine Bleakley, Chiles' co-presenter on The One Show is still Irish, still vaguely irritating, and apparently quite friendly with Chelsea footballer Frank Lampard. So you can probably expect to see a lot more of her in the near future.

More as I dream it up.
