LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA-- In an unexpected turn of events Thursday, longtime Jeopardy winner, Ken Jennings, lost on purpose as a publicity stunt in spite of Alex Trebek. From the beginning of the show, Jennings just stood there with a smirk on his face and never buzzed in one time. The game finally ended with Ken scoring no money, flipping off Trebek, and telling him to go to hell. These events led to Jennings' final earnings halting at $1,380,661.
You might recall, to mark the start of its 20th season last September, the quiz show lifted its five-game limit for winners and allowed them to keep going until they lose. It has been rumored that Trebek secretly hated this rule because of people like Jennings that would steal his spotlight.
Reports have came in that this feud had been brewing for sometime now. Situations like backstage when Trebek put laxatives in Ken's coffee to get his mind off the game. And, who could forget the episode when Trebek walked out with toilet paper hanging from his backside. It is a proven fact that Jennings orchestrated that one.
Apparently Trebek and Jennings' rival had been going unseen in the public's eye for quite sometime. Reports of Alex making question more difficult and backstage brawls are just to name a few episodes.
Jennings has often said that Alex didn't like him because he made the gameshow look too easy. And, Trebek had spent many years talking about how easy Who Wants To Be A Millionaire was. It's all clear that his other feud going with Regis Philbin was his true motive.
It was also revealed by other contestants on the final show, that he stood there making smart elec remarks about the simplicity of the show. Comments such as, "A conceited, pseudo-smart gameshow host... who is Alex Trebek?" Ken would answer. Comments like these were edited out by producers later on.
Rumor has it that with the money Ken has accumulated on Jeopardy he will put out a gameshow that can only be seen on Pay-Per-View T.V. The show will conist of intellectual wizards such as Stephen Hawking and Bill Gates. Players will be given the answer to quadratic equations and then be forced to produce an equation to warrant the answer in a matter of seconds.
