image for Ellen DeGeneres married to Portia de Rossi

New York- Ellen DeGeneres is planning a huge wedding. She will marry lipstick lesbian Portia de Rossi. DeGeneres announced the wedding during a taping of her talk show.

DeGeneres said she and girlfriend de Rossi ("Ally McBeal," from "Nip/Tuck") would be getting married.

De Rossi, 35, who was in the studio, and DeGeneres, 50, were applauded by audience members, the person close to the production said.

DeGeneres and De Rossi signed a prenuptial where De Rossi would get 25 million dollars in the event of a divorce.

Using lesbian talk De Rossi said she feels a bit sad because she has never been married before but she plans on turning Ellen into the happiest man in the world. She says she will play the submissive role during the marriage so she can please Ellen.

When asked about De Rossi's comments, Ellen laughed and assured women in the public that she was safe. She doesn't go after women's husbands or sons. Ellen said, "I don't mind wearing the pants in the marriage or being the assertive partner."

During the interview, a religious heckler in the crowd yelled out at Ellen saying, "Your grandmother wears combat boots!" The heckler was escorted out of the studio by security.

A month before, DeGeneres had proclaimed from the cover of Time magazine that she was a lesbian.

DeGeneres and the glamorous de Rossi have been a familiar couple at Hollywood events, including the Academy Awards. Previously, DeGeneres had a high-profile relationship with actress Anne Heche.

In a 2005 interview with Allure magazine, the comedian said she hoped she and de Rossi are "together the rest of our lives."

Tearful eyed DeGeneres said,"I never would have thought my life would have turned out this way," DeGeneres told the magazine. "To have money or to have a gorgeous girlfriend. I just feel so lucky with everything in my life right now."
