After President Obama received the Nobel Peace Prize last week, no one should be shocked by last night's announcement that Ms. Miley Cyrus/Hannah Montana has been nominated for the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award.
The Award is presented most years, but not all, by the Recording Academy to "Performers who, during their lifetimes, have made creative contributions of outstanding artistic significance to the field of recording"
This is distinct from the Grammy Hall of Fame Award, which honors specific recordings rather than individuals, and the Grammy Trustees Award, which honors non-performers, like Yanni.
"This young American-Pop singer and television and film actress is best known for her Disney Channel appearances and has sang her heart away for millions of people all around the world", stated Grammy spokesperson, Handy Butkiss.
"All the way back to 2008, Cyrus was listed in Time magazine's 100 Most Influential People in the World, Forbes Magazine ranked also her #35 on the Celebrity 100 list!"
"She has also received a Golden Globe nomination."
Other nominees are Joan Baez, Yoko Ono, Moms Mabley for Comedy LP's, Blues Innovator, Blonde Boy Tuberculosis from his early Thomas Edison recording spools and the do-wap group, The Duckbills.
