Posh Spice, the thinking dickhead's crumpet - Victoria Beckham, the ultimate wannabe has excelled herself. Taking herself seriously has long been her downfall, otherwise she would have cottoned on to the fact that most people who have heard of her find her intensely annoying.
Nelson Mandela met the Spice Girls when they were at the height of their fifteen minutes of fame. "The biggest mistake I ever made", he comments "The thin, pretentious one was the worst - kept wittering on about some footballer she'd trapped and was going to breed with".
Mr Mandela has excluded all reference to the meeting from his autobiography and prefers not to be reminded of it.
And now Victoria Beckham has achieved recognition - as she sees it - by the most useless section of society there is - the fashion "industry".
At New York's Fashion Week, apparently Ms Beckham's frocks were well-received by the assembled gltterati and she now thinks that the world is her oyster.
The world waits with baited breath for her to realise that a £5000 miniskirt will probably not get her a Nobel Prize nomination.
