Susan Boyle Dedicated her first song on "Britain's Got Talent" to the memory of her mother but her next song was dedicated to her good friend and cousin, Kathy Staff who played Nora Batty on Last Of The Summer Wine for over 30 years.
Stricken by grief after her beloved mother died, Susan couldn't bear to sing for two years. But the shy spinster with the voice of an angel was still being encouraged by actress Kathy Staff who died last year.
"I kept thinking of these two wonderful ladies", stated Boyle "And I finally plucked up the courage to audition for the TV show 'Britain's Got Talent' to fulfill Kathy and me Mum's dying wishes."
"Look at me, Kathy would laugh, I've been on the telly for all these years and take a look at this puss," I remember Kathy telling me. "So we're not the best looking women in the world but YOU have a great voice and Compo thought I was beautiful", she'd laugh."
"I do so miss these ladies and what a spirit they had. Mum was over 91 and I took care of her. But she always encouraged me in everything. That's why I even got up the nerve to sing at church."
"Well, here's to Mum and Kathy", Boyle held up a glass of wine. "I know they're proud of me no matter how this TV Show thing goes. I'll be singing me heart out for them!"
