The Coen brothers have announced plans to remake the John Wayne classic western, True Grit. Wayne won his only Oscar playing a "one eyed fat man" sheriff named Rooster Cogburn who helps a young girl (Kim Darby) avenge the murder of her father. The film also starred such Hollywood and music noteables as Glen Campbell, Robert Duvall, Dennis Hopper, and Strother Martin.
In the new movie, Miley Cyrus has been signed to play the role originated by John Wayne, not the part of Kim Darby. When asked why, Ethan Coen said that "everything we touch turns to gold, and everything this girl touches turns to diamonds. How could we go wrong with a casting choice like this?"
Miley is excited about her part, but says that she will not appear as old and fat or wear an eye patch. She also said that horses "are really big and scary and smell icky." Cyrus also admitted to being afraid of guns and says that she has not intention of shooting one in the film.
