Celebrity Chef Gordon Ramsay, host of the television series Hell's Kitchen, was bitch slapped by the husband of one of his contestants Tuesday evening. Ramsay had screamed at the woman because the grill marks on her grilled chicken were not in a perfect grid pattern and her spouse reacted.
In the series, Ramsay is the teacher/leader of a group of chef's in training. Part of the show involves his screaming, yelling, and demeaning the guests in an attempt to make them cry, quit, accidentally hurt themselves, or cuss him out. This time, it was not the contestant who lost their temper with him.
Dan Grossberg, husband of contestant April Grossberg, came out of the studio audience, picked up Gordon by the lapels with his left hand, and slapped and back slapped him four times. Before the last slap, Ramsey screamed "Mommy!"
After the last blow, Grossberg dropped Ramsey in a heap and returned to his seat in the audience. As he walked away, he was given a standing ovation by the cast, the television crew, and the studio audience.
Ramsay screamed "cut, cut, cut" and ran from the kitchen stage back to his dressing room. The cameras, of course, kept rolling.
Grossberg is 5'5", weighs 138 pounds, and has never taked a martial arts or self defense class. When questioned, he said "No one talks to my wife or any other lady that way. He got what he had coming to him."
Within 30 minutes of the airing of the live television show, the slap scenes were posted on You Tube. In the next six hours, they became the most watch You Tube video of the month.
When asked if charges would be pending, spokesman David Keithson of the New York City Police Department said that it was justifiable and Grossberg should be issued a citation for Valour.
