The Worldwide hit television show Heroes has run into financial difficulties during filming of the fifth series.
Previous series have cost nearly a million dollars an episode, but with the worldwide financial crisis deepening, bosses on the show are looking at making cut-backs.
"The show is quite special effect heavy," said producer Justin Le Merde. "This is one of the areas we are having to cut back on."
The show's special effect budget will be slashed drastically, but the producers don't anticipate any depreciation in terms of action.
"We're going to sack all the actors," said Le Merde. "And we have put ads in actor magazines such as I Wanna Act, as well as alert casting agencies that we would like to hire actors that already have special abilities. This way we can keep up the story lines without blowing the budget on special effects."
The casting companies have been asked to find actors that can run really fast, teleport and levitate as a priority. If they can find an actor who can bend time or possess psychokinesis all the better. Any actor that can demonstrate multiple skills in these areas is likely to be the main focus of the show.
"People want to see the abilities," said Le Merde. "We don't really care if they cannot act very well."
