Paul McCartney confirmed this morning that he is planning to launch his own space mission in late 2009.
The former Beatle, believed to be worth in the region of £800M even after the slice taken by now ex wife Heather Mills, is believed to be funding the mission himself.
McCartney is said to have designed the shape of the shuttle himself and confirmed that the shuttle is in the shape of a giant hand giving his trademark "thumbs up".
"I've built the ship, and now I've got a ticket to ride" he smirked. The shuttle was later confirmed as being called "The Yellow Subma-Shuttle".
Speaking at the conference, McCartney said "My old mate John once said that we were bigger than God. God lives in Space, so I am going to go and tell God that John was right".
Although he would not confirm the identity of the intended co-pilot for the mission, it is believed that Ringo Starr will be somehow involved in the mission.
Some more cynical observers claimed that this may be a further example of McCartney's ever deteriorating state of mind.
