image for Doctor Who Even More Popular Now Than It Was ... Last Week
More popular now than last week

Doctor Who, the science fiction fantasy programme starring David Tennant, attracted a record number of viewers for its Christmas Day episode, and it's now thought that the show is even more popular than it was LAST WEEK!

Created in 1965, the show has always been popular, apart from a period in the late 1980s when Peter Davison, Colin Baker and, latterly, Sylvester McCoy were Doctors, and it was absolutely shit.

Revived in 2005, with Christopher Eckythump as the Time Lord, the programme's popularity grew, and when Tennant became the 10th Doctor, more than 50million viewers were tuning-in each and every week.

Today's special Christmas episode clocked-up nearly 70million viewers in the UK alone, and BBC bosses say never has it been more successful, a view backed by fans at a Doctor Who exhibition in London today.

One fan, John Cyberman, 56, told us:

"I've always loved Doctor Who, ever since I was a very young dalek!"

Another ardent follower of Gallifreyan fortunes, Dave Tardis, 89, said:

"I never missed it when I was a kid. I watched every episode without fail. If I was a good lad, my mum would let me go and have my tea in the living room to watch it. If I'm good now, my wife lets me go in the living room to watch it."

BBC drama executive, Donald Skandal, said it was good to know that the Doctor was still attracting more and more viewers. He said:

"Officially-manipulated BBC figures show that one more person than last week watched the show."

A multi-talented performer, Sylvester McCoy can also play the spoons.

Make Monkey Woods's day - give this story five thumbs-up (there's no need to register, the thumbs are just down there!)

The story above is a satire or parody. It is entirely fictitious.
