image for Janet to Beyonce: Are You Trying to Copy Me?
"Hope this never happens to you, Beyonce!"

Janet Jackson is accusing Beyonce Knowles of copycatting her style. The 38-year-old singer/actress/dancer recently fired a series of shots at the Destiny's Child songbird, and she even made a list to back it up.

Jackson says Beyonce is trying to do the same thing she used to do in the late 1980s and early 90s. She also says Naughty Girl is a pale copy of her own Nasty.

But the 23-year-old Beyonce begs to differ. "I have nothing but love for Janet, and I respect everything she's ever done, but I just want to be my own woman," she said. Then she fires back, "Miss Knowles, if you're naughty!"

Here are some similarities between the two:

--They have both recorded duets with R&B great Luther Vandross (The Best Things in Life are Free and The Closer I Get to You)
--Their boyfriends are hip-hop stars (Jermaine Dupri and Jay-Z)
--They have starred in movies (Jackson in Poetic Justice, Knowles in The Fighting Temptations)
--They come from an entertainment family, obviously

However, Jackson apologizes for her Super Bowl halftime mishap in Houston, Beyonce's hometown. "Nothing against you, and I hope this never happens to you," she said in a short letter to the Knowles family.

Meanwhile, Jay-Z is quick to defend Beyonce, saying, "Janet did her thing, and now it's time for B to do the same. They both have different styles, and that's what's so unique about them. Seriously, though, I have the utmost respect for Janet."

Destiny's Child bandmates Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams were not available to comment.
