Hollywood, California - A day after the Disney announcement that Zac Efron would be rejoining is co-stars for the sequel "High School Musical 3", the 21-year-old entered into Cedars-Sinai Medical Center for emergency plastic surgery. Efron was contractually obligated to have the plastic surgery, a tummy tuck, hair implants and dental veneers, done as part of the Disney deal to reverse the effects his accelerated aging, returning his youthful appearance of a high school senior of about 17.
"He already had the beer belly and receding hairline going into "High School Musical 2'," said Efron's agent.
"We covered it up with the use of a girdle and hairpiece," said a co-producer of the show. "But even them they had to touch up some computer generated imaging (CGI) special effects in post editing to make it look believable."
Fortunately, Vanessa Hudgens scantly clad wardrobe distracted the audience away from Efron's imperfections.
Rumor has it that Efron put off the elective plastic surgery all this time as a negation tactic with the Disney studio to get more money, but his agent denies it.
However, his agent confirms that Efron has gained a significant amount of weight during his High School Musical series hiatus, requiring emergency plastic surgery to get him back into shape in time for the first day of shooting, just weeks away.
"Efron is a Method Actor," explained Efron's agent. "So when he asked to take on a movie role whose character was a bed bound recluse with an obesity problem, he really let himself go gaining a couple of hundred pounds to fit the part."
Hospital officials confirm that Efron is in stable condition and is expected to make a full recovery.
Meanwhile, body fat allegedly extracted for Efron during his liposuction procedure has made it on eBay.
