Dubai -United Arab Emirates - On the heels of MTV's announcement it will bring Hip-Hop to the United Arab Emirates public, another network follows MTV's lead. Lifetime Entertainment Services announces that it too will try to attract young female Arabs away from their family duties and put them on the couch when the husband is at work.
Andrea Wong is President and CEO of Lifetime Entertainment Services. Wong is crediting with increasing ABC profits with shows like Dancing with the Stars. "I am ready to open the eyes of all women everywhere" said Wong, "The truth in the matter, tv imitates life and women get raped and beat-up everywhere in the world and the United Arab Emirates is no exception."
Lifetime says that it feels that if you can get 1 Arab wife to watch the network the other 3 wives in the household will follow. Wong says, "That is a 3 multiplier and Lifetime Entertainment Services will be not only be the number 1 cable network again in the US but United Arab Emirates."
Wong does have some experience in Reality TV. She feels that this would be a cheap and hard hitting avenue to get Arab women to fight for their rights. She has some shows already to be launch like, Dancing with the Goats and Amazing Flat Bread Stone Oven Race.
The Network will launch at midnight January 20th 2008, airing a pre-taped show featuring a Golden Girls 72 hour marathon. During the break their will be a "where are they now feature" on Bea Arthur, Betty White, Rue McClanahan, Estelle Getty hosted by Paris Hilton. "I am very excited" said Hilton, "After my incarceration, I wanted to change the world."
