Courtney Love, the often-controversial rocker, has finally been recognized for other achievements.
The Organization for Outrageous Popular Sychophants (OOPS!) has awarded her with their "Humanitarian of the Year Award."
"Courtney is so under-rated as a performance artist. She really has her pulse on what popular culture is all about. Besides, she keeps several Columbian youths employed, in what industry I can not say. She is active as an advocate in the public courts and she believes in nudity, which we largely support," Juwanna Repeatthat-Puhlease, the Director of Outrageous Celebrities said today from her computer. It seems she had just finished watching yet another episode of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine.
"Courtney inspires us to be outrageous and ostentatious. She shows us that we can reach beyond the limits and we will just get more popular. Her popularity is at an all-time high after that stunt on Letterman. People are talking about her, and that's what will get them to buy her new CD. I wish my some of my clients would pull some outrageous stunts," Madonna Phoney-Baloney, a publicist for another famous celebrity (not Britney Spears) told this reporter.
Courtney didn't say whether she was pleased with the award or not. It seems she is busy with, um, other matters. However, a friend of hers concluded, "Sure. It's cool and everything. She's a junkie...a PUBLICITY junkie. Why you tabloids got to be so rude and judgemental? Y'all ain't nuthin' like Courtney."
The awards are scheduled for the first Wednesday after the next full moon between 8pm - 8:08pm. It will be broadcast with a five minute delay just in case.
