Hollywood, California - Disney executives in a rush to capitalize on the free press Vanessa Hudgens and Zac Efron (well, mostly Vanessa with her racy pics that just seem to be getting racier by the minute), thought they could shoot another East Side High School Musical special celebrating everybody's favorite holiday, other than Christmas, Halloween!
The plot was simple enough: the East Side High Wildcat's throw a Halloween party, where else but the Lava Springs Country Club. There everyone dresses up as his or her favorite character, or inanimate object, and singsongs about it. Only the dailies that were shot just could not get pass the censors.
"First they complained about Vanessa's costume," said a production assistant on the show. "Then they had us re-shoot her bobbing for apples scene over and over again, claiming it was too sexy."
Vanessa's character (Gabriella) dresses up as a 1970s short-cropped haired, braless feminist in a t-shirt, which was controversial enough (don't ask, don't tell), but the real fireworks started when she began bobbing for apples.
According to eyewitnesses on the set, you could hear a pin drop the production crew was so quite.
"Her t-shirt would get all wet, and the water was pretty cold so you can imagine why the scene could not get pass the censors," said a cameraman. "It looked like wet t-shirt contest at Hooters."
"I was mesmerized," said the caterer. "Every time she went down and bobbed for another apple, I swear I never saw a more beautiful sight in my life."
It is rumored that all the while when the director was busy arguing with the censors to keep the scene in as it was shot, all the production crew was busy checking the Internet for Vanessa's nude photos and comparing them with the dailies.
Sadly, the costume and scene could not get pass the censors with anything lower than an NC-17 rating, which eventually resulted in the cancellation of the Halloween special.
According to close friends of Vanessa, she was so drenched with water that day she caught a terrible chest cold that lasted nearly two weeks.
