Paralytic Pictures announced today that they will be producing a remake of their classic picture, Lost Weekend.
In typical Hollywood style, the gender of the lead character, who is ruined by alcohol and drug addiction, will be switched to a woman. There are three strong candidates for the lead: Lindsay Lohan, Britney Spears and Paris Hilton. Dark horses in the running include Brit. model Kate Moss, American actress Winona Ryder and the Olsen twins.
An unknown spokesman for Paralytic said, "It's going to be difficult to cast a lead since all six have popped pills, smoked Marijuana, snorted cocaine and abused alcohol." He then added, "There's certainly no shortage of actresses who have behaved like that."
The original was released in 1945 and won Oscars for Best Picture, Best Actor, Ray Milland and Best Director, Billy Wilder.
The studio had not yet chosen a director or any other cast members but said that announcements will be made before August 3. The picture is scheduled for a Spring 2009 release.
