Los Angeles - (Ass Mess): FBI officers are probing Oscar winner Michael Moore's recent shenanigans in Cuba where the 'Bowling for Columbine' and 'Farenheit:9/11' movie maker was investigating the US State Secrets-classified identity of the charitable foundation which bankrolled the island's legendary medical healthcare system.
Cuba's national health service has been the envy of the region and was funded over 25 years ago by a series of anonymous charitable donations which also defined its healthcare structure, medical training, welfare ethos and patients' rights charter.
Now the US Treasury says Moore took ailing 9/11 rescue workers to Havana to film some sequences in his forthcoming
healthcare documentary entitled 'Sicko'.
The new Moore documentary probes why the identity of the US charity responsible for Cubans' healthcare has remanined a classified secret and traces potential links to anonymous US energy industry investors.
But the US treasury says Moore may have violated US trade embargos restricting travel to Cuba and that his filming was therefore unlicensed.
Moore remains bullish despite the developing row and may have stashed his Cuban footage in secure bank vaults outside the US Treasury's jurisdiction.
"But if they decide to nail him this time round, they'll probably do so," said a FBI-related source replying to comments that Moore had reached the proverbial dead end of his professional career.
More details are expected shortly.
