New York - (Ass Mess): Two WFNY-FM shock jocks who campaigned in support of sacked CBS radio show host Don Imus have been fired for spreading his inimicable brand of humor to the Chinese community.
Jeff Vandergrift and Dan Lay were sitting pretty in their The Dog House With JV and Elvis morning show.
But someting snapped after Imus's firing for a racial slur on the Rutgers University women's basketball team and the intrepid jocks played a stunt too far by twice broadcasting a racially charged prank call to employees at a nearby Chinese restaurant the Ho Lee Fook.
"We were just foolin' round, maybe a bit outta order," Vandergrift said today after admitting the prank included telling one female worker at the restaurant that he wanted to come to the restaurant "to see her all naked" and lick her "hot, Asian, spicy yum-yum."
The New York City chapter of the Organization of Chinese Americans didn't think that was funny and made a complaint.
And the waitress at the Ho Lee Fook restaurant?
"I always thought their show was crap anyway," she said.
Vandergrift and Lay remain suspended without pay pending an enquiry.
Don Imus is 69.
