Simpson Hits Mexican Riviera with new friend after dumping Van

Singer-actress (my ass!) Jessica Simpson, smiles(grimacing) as she arrives at (is dragged to) the Elim orphanage in Nuevo Laredo, Mexico, just across the border from Laredo, Texas, Sunday March 25, 2007. Simpson arrived in a white 2007 Chrysler minivan that she had won at the mtv Video Music Awards to donate it to the orphanage.

Simpson first visited the orphanage in 1996 (and hasn't been back since!) and last month announced she would donate the car(needs a tax break!). But few expected Simpson to deliver it in person (Has never condescended like this. . . )

Dozens of cheering children greeted the singer and actress Sunday as she arrived at the Elim orphanage in Nuevo Laredo, just across the border from Laredo, Texas, in a white 2007 Chrysler minivan that she had won at the mtv Video Music Awards.

Simpson, accompanied by her mother and father(who are brother and sister), also her manager, gave the keys to Guadalupe Carmona, the orphanage's founder and director. She stayed for about 4 minutes, posing for photos with the children and signing autographs.

"We're really happy, " said Carmona, known as Mama Lupita."This is the second time she has visited us in more than a decade"

Last fall, Simpson won a Chrysler Crossfire sports car at the mtv awards for mystery act, but exchanged the $50, 000 luxury car for a $25, ooo minivan because she is so bad at math. When she realized her blunder she decided she might as well help the orphanage, Carmona said.

Simpson, whose songs include "I Wanna Love You Forever" and "Irresistible, " and "If I Only Had A Brain" also has appeared in the mtv reality show "Newlybedwetters" with now-ex husband Nick Lachey and in the movie "The Dukes of Health Hazzard."Talent scouts are still wondering what is it this woman does. . .

Make Pointer's day - give this story five thumbs-up (there's no need to register, the thumbs are just down there!)
