Mumbai: The ongoing cold war between Bollywood top star Shah Rukh Khan, the current host of Kaun Banega Crorepati and Amitabh Bachchan, the earlier host of the same show (an Indian version of Who Wants To Be a Millionaire) resulted in a vicious assault on Khan.
Shah Rukh has been admitted in Leelavati Hospital, Bandra. Dr Hemant Kumar, one of the spokesmen of the hospital described him as `out of danger`. Shah Rukh is planning to file a criminal complaint against the politician.
Amar Singh, a close friend of Bachchan, visited the set in disguise (dressed as a turbaned security officer) and assaulted the Khan with a golf club head, seriously injuring the star host. SRK was taken by surprise in presence of over 500 horrified viewers of the popular show present on the sets
It is not known whether Amitabh Bachchan was aware of Amar Singh's plan or this was the case of `being more loyal than the King`.
However, it may be noted that within hours of SRK taking over KBC, Sahara TV started his parody as Kaun Banega Champu. Sahara TV is owned by another friend of Bachchan, Subrata Roy.
While the tension between the two goes back to an incident when Singh and Bachchan created scene after not getting front seats in a programme, during which SRK called Singh a `goonda`, the rivalry between Bachchan and SRK is a by-product of this row.
Soon, SRK `annoyed` Bachchan by doing a remake of Don, originally done by him. This followed by `stealing` KBC from Bachchan and also getting his wax statue at Madam Tussaud's where the only two Indians, so far, were Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai.
It may be noted that Amar Singh has proposed the name of Amitabh Bachchan as the President of India. Samajwadi Party (Socialist party) that is ruling UP, the largest state in India, is supporting the move.
Amar Singh is described, in Wikipedia, free-content encyclopedia on the Internet as `one of the most controversial and powerful wheeler dealers in Indian Politics. Alleged to have amassed immense wealth through shady deals involving several top political and business leaders.`
