image for Cuts At The BBC Mean Radical Re-think Of Schedules
The Beeb's latest creation "Finger Boy". Quite possibly the next "must have" toy for christmas 2007

Swingeing cuts at the BBC signal drastic budget reductions for programme makers throughout the corporation.

Hardest hit is the Children's unit where they are already feeling the pinch and having to draw in their horns. Our showbiz reporter, Oscar Bafta, was at the launch of the new kids' flagship for Spring schedules, Finger Boy.

Finger Boy's creator told us:

"We had it all worked out for a new show with state of the art CGI's and animations. If we had been left alone to make that programme, then it would have been the new benchmark in kids shows. But then word came from the top that we had to make some cuts and changes.

We were called to a meeting and dicovered that our budgets had been reduced from £1,000,000 per episode right down to 10p. So the production crew had a brainstorming session and Finger Boy was born"

Oscar watched the pilot episode and his candid assessment was "Fingerbobs without the cardboard costumes. Complete shit!"

This could be the death knell for kids' shows on the Beeb and only time will tell if they will be able to recover from this bitter blow.

Make Duff's day - give this story five thumbs-up (there's no need to register, the thumbs are just down there!)
