The rock and roll comeback band wagon trundles ever onward. First it was Take That then the Daleks but now in a remarkable new twist tickets to see Buddy Holly live in Manchester went on sale today.
Concert promoter and former con artist Honest Dave is said to be the man behind the sell-out show. He told The Spoof:
"Oh yeah, Buddy's back and better than ever. Deffos"
We pointed out that glasses wearing, Peggy Sue creator Holly, had met his Maker some considerable time ago and asked how Dave could possibly substantiate his extraordinary claims. He replied:
"Make no mistake he's back all right. Would I lie to you?"
When our reporter then reminded him about the Jimmy Hendrix, Beatles and The Rolling Stones reunited with Brian Jones gigs that he promoted last summer and all of which came to nought. The big man said:
"Oh bollocks! Looks like I've been tumbled again. Ok tell you what, how's about two tickets to see The Carpenters if you keep schtum? Now I can't say fairer than that can I? Okay okay! Final offer, what about a couple of back-stages passes for the Elvis comeback special I'm doing next month? They're like gold dust"
We left him in cloud cuckoo land as we had an important exclusive to conduct with The Big Bopper, who coincidentally is on the comeback trail too.
