HOLLYWOOD - This year's Top 12 contestants on American Idol are not causing the fan frenzy that past Top 12 contestants from previous years have.
The judges, Jennifer Lopez, Keith Urban, and Harry Connick, Jr., are getting a little more harsher in their critiques.
Harry especially is prone to a bit of meanness ala Simon "The Sultan of Sarcasm" Cowell.
He recently told one of the young singers that he hopes she did not quit her job back home because she will be heading back home soon.
He also told one of the male singers that he hopes he didn't sell the farm in order to come out West.
One bright spot is Caleb Johnson from Asheville, North Carolina, the resident rock & roller. Caleb can really wail and he has quickly become the early odds on favorite.
In fact, Las Vegas bookies are saying that Johnson could win it all this year.
SIDENOTE: The youngest contestant this year is Malaya Watson who is all of 16. She plays the tuba in her high school band and Ryan "Peaches" Seacrest told her that he hopes she sings a song while accompanying herself on the tuba.
