LOS ANGELES -- Finding themselves unable to go outside without causing a major uproar, major Hollywood stars are looking to MySpace for social interaction. The popular website, once thought to be the domain of choice for teenagers, is now used by some very famous people.
"I got so tired of getting mobbed every time I wanted to meet some young men," said Cher. "MySpace is just much less of a hassle for someone like me. My MySpace page is not hard to find; just search for 'Cher' and you'll find me."
Tom Cruise has maintained a MySpace page for several years. "Yeah, I love Katy a lot, but every week or so I just get the urge to hang out with some new guys, and if they know where to look (can I mention cruisintom ?) it won't take them long to hook up with me."
Business has dried up at several former celebrity haunts. One former restaurant owner, too ashamed to reveal his name, said that he lost all his business because so many of the big stars just stay at home and socialize on MySpace.
One enterprising high school junior said, "I used to be happy just hooking up with girls still in school. In the last few weeks on MySpace, I've been checking out Britney Spears, Paris Hilton, and even that hot redhead babe from Desperate Housewives -- I promised her I wouldn't mention her name!"
