A gay couple who recently got married in California are being sued by one of their ex-boyfriends.
"Steve proposed to me over a year ago and we planned to get married once it was legal for same-sex couples to do so", stated Jared Letcher of Las Vegas. "Then after it's legal, he turns around and married Dave!"
A judge who will probably hear the case told a reporter he would have to study about the lawsuit.
"I assume the rules would be the same as any married couple", stated Judge Henry Bach. "Usually, if a marriage was agreed upon and there are written statements or witnesses to the statement, the person 'left behind' would have the right to sue."
Letcher says that he is suing for $100,000.
"They have a lot more than that between them", stated Letcher. "But my lawsuit is only against that traitor, Steve Larson!"
Letcher's attorney says he hopes it is settled out of court. "This will set a precedent for other cases so we have to be careful. My client was jilted after he was promised marriage in front of a lot of their friends."
Meanwhile the judge is asking his fellow judges, "What happens when a gay person has promised to marry half a dozen people of the same sex?"
