Reporters recently interviewed two middle aged dudes hanging out, outside a hipster music venue after overhearing them make fun of the patrons.
One of the 40 something generation X-ers stated, "You know what though? I just realized something. Back in the eighties we were THOSE guys. We were the guys that said shit like 'Oh, I was listening to the Pixies before anybody knew who the Pixies were.'"
The second middle aged generation x-er replied, "So what you're saying is we were hipsters before hipster was even a thing and now we're making fun of hipsters."
"Yeah. What these kids do isn't new. We were doing it first. We were saying we were doing things first, first."
"And later in our life we were making fun of them before they were making fun of themselves or the next generation. Always a step ahead. Cutting edge."
"Oh shit. We gotta go. That's my kid over there. I don't want him to see me. He told me I have to stop looking for chicks in the same venues he does."
"Yeah, but you were doing it first, obviously."
