Channel E! Announces New Show: Keeping up with Chief Rabbis

After the contemptuous race for new Chief Rabbis of Israel, a new Ashkenazi and Sephardic Rabbi have been announced - David Lau as the Ashkenazi Chief Rabbi and Yitzhak Yosef as the Sephardic Chief Rabbi of Israel. The race, which received more media attention in Israel than the birth of North West received in United States was recognized by Channel E! as a new opportunity for a reality show.

The Keeping up with the Chief Rabbis series will be similar to the E! show with the Kardashian, as no one will care about them and most viewers will wish that they would just disappear. The show will follow the Chief Rabbis during their ten year posts as the spiritual leaders of Israel.

"There are many similarities between the Kardashian and the Chief Rabbinate, so it made a lot of sense for us to add this show to our line up," stated head of E! Network. "The Kardashians have scandal, power, and nepotism, and so does the chief Rabbi's office. Not only that, but the weddings of their children take place only a few days after they have met, instead of only a few months, like Kim and Chris, so imagine the controversy!"

Rabbi Lau is the son of former Ashkenazi Chief Rabbi Meir Lau while Rabbi Yosef is the son of former Sephardic Chief Rabbi and Shas spiritual leader Ovadia Yosef, who was recently named the spokes model for an international sunglass designer.

E! expects the series to cover all the different aspects of the Rabbinate, but is particularly excited to feature the scandals and blackmail that usually go on behind the scenes. There is no expectation that the appointment of the new Chief Rabbis will make any difference or provide any improvements to the current ultra Orthodox monopoly situation in Israel.
