Hollywood, CA-- Veteran actor Leonard Nimoy is to become the new Dr. Who after Matt Smith gives up the role later this year. Mr. Nimoy will also reprise his role as Mr. Spock from 'Star Trek' at the same time. The new Dr. Who will combine the 'Star Trek' and 'Doctor Who' universes.
"I am playing Dr. Who as he turns into Mr. Spock." said Mr. Nimoy. "It's what Gene Roddenberry always wanted--he was a big fan of the 'Doctor Who' shows."
Writers for 'Doctor Who' are looking forward to the new changes. Having Mr. Spock as Dr. Who will inspire a lot of new plot twists.
"Now we will be able to have the USS Enterprise go up against the Daleks or have Dr. Who engage the Borg. The sky's the limit!" said a 'Doctor Who' producer.
If the new hybrid is a success, producers plan to take one more step, and link the 'Star Wars' movies with 'Star Trek' and 'Doctor Who'.
"In the near future you might see Mr. Spock step out of the TARDIS and have a conversation with Yoda or Chewbacca." said Mr. Nimoy. "It's a very big universe, and the possibilities are endless."
