Well we never expected to hear this, but apparently this week Kurt Silvey has admitted to the rumours that most of the time he did not practice his dance routines with his partner, he actually did it with a female shop mannequin. Friends of the West End star have said that Kurt was very attached to the mannequin, she was called Alicia, had brown hair and he hardly went anywhere without her. Apparently he had a range of outfits and wigs which he would dress the mannequin up in so that it felt like a real person.
When questioned about the recent confession, Mr Silvey had this to say, "I use Alicia because I get nervous that I will mess up a dance routine when I practice it for the first time, with the mannequin I can make mistakes and no one will shout at me. Once I feel confident enough, I then move on to dancing with my real partner. Honestly, it sounds crazy but I think every dancer should do it, it's been crucial in my career success".
Kurt Silvey admitting to the unusual use of shop mannequins has actually made the sale of them shoot through the roof. Shop fitting retailers all over the world have seen many dancers making purchases recently of both male and female dolls. Is this the start of a new dancing craze?
