image for New Bond a big surprise

Hollywood, Los Angeles. In slowly emerging but nevertheless breaking news here, former English Test cricketer, John Emburey, has been revealed as the next portrayer of master spy James Bond in the Ian Fleming film adaptations from 2015.

Emburey, who last played for the Poms in 1993, was approached by a Bond production assistant after numerous stars were asked but none accepted (including Russell Brand, Nigel Havers, David Beckham and Stephen Fry; even former PM Gordon Brown said no!). The normally shy and retiring ex spin bowler was naturally surprised to be asked however, after consulting his loved ones, he gave his consent to performing one of the big screen's most adored roles.

The next production of Bond will begin shortly and Mr Emburey will begin the biggest challenge of his career. At age 61, he doesn't have any qualms about leaping from moving helicopters or dodging firey cars.
