Los Angeles, CA - In his first (and probably last) trip to the American Music Awards on Sunday, Korean-Pop sensation Psy, had an experience that he'll never forget, even though, most in attendance will probably forget him.
The Pop Star's first major awards shin-dig, since his wildly popular "Gangnam Style" swept America, started off on a bad note when he forgot his trade mark "Risky Business" style sunglasses in the limo on the way over to the event. When he got out of the limo, in his now ubiquitous tuxedo, nobody really knew who he was.
"I felt awfully." Said his assistant, Sue Ri Kim, who quickly gave chase to the limo, leaving Psy alone on the Red Carpet.
Repeatedly, Psy would be tapped on the shoulder and asked if he could go fetch the uber-famous celebrity standing there, a drink. He actually found himself in line at the bar, getting a Bloody Mary for Barbara Streisand, shortly there after.
Done with the red carpet and chasing around doing little chores for people, Psy opted to make his way into the theatre and look for his seat. While walking down the aisle, looking for his row, he was stopped several more times by people asking him if he could help find their seats. Psy, whose English isn't the best, didn't want to try and explain that he wasn't an aisle usher and politely agreed, helping seat Dolly Parton, Miss Diana Ross and even one of the Back Street Boys.
Finally, Psy, the poor guy, found his seat down front, but it didn't take long before one of the theatre's managers stopped at his side and blew up in a fit of rage at him, for slouching-off while on the job. "People need drinks damn it! And help finding their seats!" The manager yelled at Psy.
Kelly Clarkson, who was seated just behind Psy, recalled the scene. "The manager guy just went off on him!" Said Clarkson. "He was yelling at the poor guy, calling him a lazy slacker and stuff, I felt ready bad for him. I had to say something!" She added in her heartfelt twang.
So what did Mrs. Clarkson say to the angry manager?
"I said, Hey! Don't yell at that poor usher like that! He can sit down and take a break if he wants too! He's probably been working his tail off, running around like a dog for us all." She recalled red-faced, not having realized that she was defending one of pop music's most rocket-fueled careers of 2012!
"I Psy!" The Korean Pop star said back to the manager and Mrs. Clarkson.
"Awe." Clarkson replied, "He's sad!" She said to a friend sitting beside her. She gave the sad guy a hundred dollar bill as a tip, thinking that would make the tuxedoed waiter feel better and asked him to fetch her a Tom Collins when he was done with his break.
Finally, Psy's assistant showed up with his symbolic sunglasses, which he promptly stuck back on his face and pointed to himself with his big grin towards the angry manager and Miss Clarkson.
"Oh my Gosh!" realized Clarkson. "Your that guy who rides the pretend horse around, "Gang Land Style! Right!"
"Yes" Psy agreed wildly, basking in the glow of his celebrity status once again. "I Gangnam style!" He repeated.
Miss Clarkson recalled being highly embarrassed, as the manager sauntered off, hoping not to get fired.
Near the end of the awards show, you can imagine Miss Barbara Streisand's, Dolly Parton's and one of the guys from the Back Street Boy's surprise, when they saw the helpful theatre employee that they had encountered earlier in the evening, get up to preform the closing number of the show.
Well, we're sure that we'll be seeing Psy around Hollywood for years to come, even though it will more than likely be when he is serving drinks at some trendy patio-bar off Sunset Blvd.
