BURBANK - TouchRock Pictures in association with Cloud 13 Films has just announced that Russell Brand will be starring in Bandini Borrapelli's Smoke & Mirrors - The Willie Nelson Story.
The motion picture is based on country music legend Willie Nelson's autobiography titled Officers, I Swear I Thought It Was Oregano.
Borrapelli has been trying to get the movie rights for the past 13 months but every time he would talk to Nelson, he would say that he would get back to him and he never would.
Finally the famous Italian director flew down to Austin, Texas, with Russell Brand and the two paid the 79-year-old Nelson a visit to his sprawling ranch, The Lazy Grass Ranch.
While at the ranch Borrapelli and Brand had a nice long talk with Nelson who told them that he had experimented with breeding cattle with hogs.
Nelson said that he came up with a new animal breed which he registered as hattle.
Willie laughed as he took a hit from his rolled up cigarette and told Borrapelli and Brand that the new breed produces ready made Filet Mignon's.
Russell Brand will portray Nelson from the age of 29, to his present age 79. The two motion picture studios have brought in one of Europe's best make up artists, Copenhagen, Denmark's Faust "Lipstick" Forgenfeller.
And interestingly enough they have also hired noted accent coach Rayburn Fandersketti, to help rid Brand of his British accent and help him attain a country accent.
Fandersketti, who recently worked with Kristen Stewart on Snow White and The Huntsman, had a widely publicized affair with Rob Pattinson's ex-girlfriend.
Reba McEntire will star as Willie's sister Bobbi Nelson and Johnny Depp will portray Willie's harmonica player Mickey Raphael.
SIDENOTE: The movie's outdoor scenes will be filmed in Austin and the indoor scenes will be filmed in Providence, Rhode Island.
