image for Man Utd And Wolves Cause Sky Sports Cliché Punch-Up
Home and hosed? Dry?

Sky Sports viewers were horrified this afternoon when a couple of pundits started throwing punches at eachother.

The fracas started at half-time in the match between Wolves and Manchester Utd.

With Utd 3-0 up and Wolves reduced to ten men following Zubar's sending-off, the game looked to be beyond the home side's reach, as the pundits in the studio agreed.

"Yeah, United look home and hosed, don't they," said Jamie Redknapp. "It's going to be a long old second half for Wolves, but they have to be professional and try make United work."

But fellow pundit Dwight Yorke argued: "No, Jamie - that's not right... United are home and dry. They're not hosed..."

"Yes they are, Dwight," Redknapp countered. "I've been doing this job longer than you and my dad's a top boss, so I know what I'm talking about. They're home and hosed."

"Don't you tell me I don't know what I'm talking about, I played for United and they're dry..." argued Yorke appearing to raise an elbow towards Redknapp's face. Redknapp clutched his head before lashing out and the last viewers saw was production staff rushing in to separate the two men before the show went to commercials.

When the programme resumed for the second half, commentator Martin Tyler apologised to viewers, adding that such "frank exchange of opinions" was "healthy and all part of our wonderful game."
