Metallica were supposed to play an open-air concert in Delhi last Friday, but the concert was called off due to crazed, turbaned Indian "head-bangers" trashing the stage before the concert began.
25000 head-bangers, who had never ever seen a heavy-metal concert live, waited with high anticipation for the greatest metal band on the planet to play for the first time in India.
Then a rumour circulated around the crowd that turbans must be removed whilst head-banging. Because having turbans flying through the air could become a dangerous hazard for non-turban wearing head-bangers. This prompted a race riot.
The very angry Sikhs then rushed onto the stage, started demolishing it and then the thing collapsed so the concert was cancelled. Such riots are common place in India especially when corrupt ticket dealers promise to supply tickets for cricket games against Pakistan and fail to deliver, they even kill each other.
Metallica gave the following press statement:
"We are very sorry that we had to cancel our concert, but we are using the time in a responsible fashion by listening to decent music supplied by Ravi Shankar, we'll see you all in Bangalore!"
In Bangalore there are no turbaned head-bangers, only very rich IT workers without Sikh headress's, so the show will certainly go on!
